ERGÄNZUNGSSEMINAR WS22/23

RESPONSIVE SCULPTURE

Lecturer: Caspar Frintz B.A.

In this supplementary course, a sculpture is designed that reacts to the human being. The focus is on working out the interaction with the observer. Emotions can be shown or triggered, the human being can be integrated into the art or become a part of it. In this way, the sculpture invites a dialogue and makes a socio-critical or political statement that stimulates reflection. The aim is to create a fascinating total work of art. For this purpose, decisions are made about the physical construction, materiality and structure, and a simple algorithm is developed that controls the behaviour of the actuators based on sensor data. The supplementary seminar offers the chance to explore new approaches to the human-machine interface and to gain insights into electrical engineering and computer science. The basics required for implementation are learned in the course itself in entertaining practical sessions. No prior knowledge is required, group work is encouraged.

VERTIEFUNGSSEMINAR ZUR BACHELORTHESIS SS22

ROOM IN MOTION

Lecturers: Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Ulrich Blum (Zaha Hadid) & Caspar Frintz B.A.

This advanced course deals with spatial transformations that aim to influence the shape of spaces and buildings so that they can be used in a variety of ways. Adaptive space components should serve as a basis for realising the vision of learning spaces or learning buildings. In this course, we will search for magical transformations and grace in the choreographed interplay of diverse spatial components that inspire users through novel interaction experiences. With the construction of experimental prototypes, innovative implementation possibilities are sought and tried out on a one-to-one basis in real situations. Different feedback processes such as surveys and the introduction of sensor technology will enable an evaluation of usage patterns and habits and generate insights that will become the basis for a spatial learning process. The course takes place in cooperation with and with the support of the company Hettich.

In search of the architecture of the future. On one hand, the urgency to find climate-neutral or positive production and processing cycles is enormous. On the other hand, we need economical and sufficient production methods.
